Jan Baker Bio

Jan Baker has been involved in real estate for over 28 years. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a Masters degree in Education. She currently serves as Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Managing Broker of the 85 North office for Prudential Georgia Realty.

Jan has recently been appointed as a National Association of REALTORSŪ Political Action Trustee for 2008. This is a very prestigious committee and she was appointed by Dick Gaylord, 2008 National Association of REALTORSŪ (NAR) President. While Georgia has had a representative serve on a regional level, Jan is the first from Georgia to serve at the National level.

After serving in a variety of leadership roles at the local, state and national levels, Jan was recently honored with Captain of Industry Award by Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors (NAMAR). In 2006, she received the President's Award by outgoing NAMAR President, Mike Small.  She served as President of the Georgia Association of REALTORSŪ with over 45,000 members., in 2005. 

With a lifetime of professional accomplishments comes many awards for good service. Jan's accolades include REALTORŪ of the year four times on the local level and 2003 GAR REALTORŪ of the Year. Jan is also a past two-time Realtor of the Year with Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors and the Cherokee Association of Realtors. She is the only real estate professional in the state to have achieved this honor twice with two different boards. Jan was also honored with the Dick McCrudden Award in 1999 and earned the President's Award in 2000 by that year's GAR President, James Lee Herndon. 

 

She is a Life Member of the Million Dollar Club, a past Georgia Chapter WCR President, a past Chair of the National WCR Awards Committee as well as a National WCR Governor. Jan's involvement also includes service on many Board and Inter-board Ethics Panels, serving and chairing many arbitration hearings, and teachting ethics at orientations. Jan taught professional standards for six years and has chaired 18Committees for GAR. At the national level, Jan has served as a National Association of Realtors Director, a member of the National Association of Realtors Membership Policy and Board Jurisdiction Committee and as a member of the National Association of Realtors Public Policy Coordinating Committee. She is currently an appointee of the Federal Political Committee.

 

Jan is married to Bob Baker and they reside in Braselton. She has two children - her daughter Jana is a REALTORŪ.
